Morning Teaching Conference 6:30 - 7:00 a.m. ICU Call- 24-hour call which averages once per four days. Reviewing cases the night before with your attending Setting up your room at 6:00 a.m.Weekend call typically occurs one to two weekends during the month. These days are followed by a post call day which is off. Residents typically take 6-8 overnight calls per month depending on their level of training. OB Call - There is an overnight system similar to the main OR call.Residents also take late call (until 7-8 pm) 2-3 times per month and work a normal day on the following day. Weekend overnight call is typically 2 of these 4 calls each month. Residents typically take approximately 4 overnight calls per month and receive a post-call day on the following day. The call team is typically composed of a mixture of junior and senior residents in addition to the overnight attending anesthesiologist.
This resident works the night shift Monday through Friday 7 p.m. Main OR Call- MOR call is a 24 hour call system. 1st Call One resident from either the CA-3 or CA-2 class will be assigned to night float each month.On-call schedules will vary, but are generally as follows: As a CA-3, call is split between finishing the most complex cases in the OR that have gone late or running the operating rooms overnight as the "OC-1 Resident." As a CA-2, call is split between the main operating room for more complex cases overnight and as the overnight emergency airway resident. As a CA-1, call is usually in the main OR providing safe anesthesia for urgent and emergent overnight cases.
